SIGNAL exists because finding honest tech reviews in 2026 is harder than it should be. Sponsored content, affiliate-first rankings, and AI-generated reviews dressed as journalism have made the internet’s tech coverage harder to trust. Here is exactly how SIGNAL works — and what makes it different.
How press scores are sourced
Every press score on SIGNAL is sourced directly from a named publication — TechRadar, The Verge, PCMag, IGN, Wirecutter, RTINGS, Tom’s Guide, and others. The exact score and exact verdict wording are verified before they go on the site. Nothing is estimated, averaged, or invented. If a score cannot be verified from a named source, it does not appear on SIGNAL. This is a hard rule with no exceptions.
What “verified” means
Verified means the score was checked against the source publication at the time of adding it to SIGNAL. It does not mean SIGNAL independently tested the product — we are a press aggregator, not a testing lab. The value is in collecting and presenting what the best-resourced review publications have found, without the commercial pressures those publications often face.
Our Choice
Every buying guide on SIGNAL ends with “Our Choice” — a single product recommendation with original reasoning. This is SIGNAL’s editorial opinion based on the verified press data, the products’ real-world use cases, and long-term value. Our Choice is never paid for, never influenced by affiliate relationships, and never based on which product earns a higher commission. The reasoning is always original — not recycled from press scores.
Affiliate links
SIGNAL includes affiliate links to Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and other retailers. When you buy through a link, SIGNAL may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site is funded. It does not influence which products are featured, how they are scored, or what Our Choice recommends. Full details are in the Terms of Service.
Customer reviews
SIGNAL has a Write a Review feature where real buyers can leave honest feedback on any product on the site. These reviews appear as Customer Reviews and are clearly labelled as such — distinct from the verified press coverage. SIGNAL does not edit or remove customer reviews for commercial reasons.
SIGNAL is run by a real person who got tired of sponsored tech reviews. Every score is verified from a named publication. Every Our Choice is original editorial reasoning. No brand pays to appear on SIGNAL. No score is invented. If you find an error, email [email protected] and it will be corrected.
